ABOUT This website is inteneded to serve as a complete resource for team ropers in Alabama. If you need information about team ropings in your area, or need help finding equipment you need. Please remember to check here.
The idea for this site came to me one Friday morning when I was driving to work, and it occurred to me that I didn't have anything to do Saturday. So, I thought I could find a roping somewhere. Then it occurred to me that there was currently no good resource for finding local ropings. I know I can check out USTRC for big ropings, but everyone already knows about those. I wanted to find some small jackpot somewhere, and it occurred to me that it would be nice if there were a website to do just that.
So, the idea was born. Over the next weekend I asked a lot of people for their thoughts on my little idea, and the feedback was very positive. Everyone I spoke with said that spending a little extra money on your roping to help get more ropers would be a small and worthwhile investment.
Then on July 11, 2006, I purchased the site and started setting things up. I made getting the event calendar my number one priority. For the first year, I had to charge a little to post ropings. It was well received, but I was getting some people who were interested, but didn't want to spend the money. In 2007, Kelly Trailer Sales and 4M ranch came on as advertisers, and with their support I was able to offer everything completely FREE from 2008 and beyond.
I was finally building what I'd wanted to build. A free resource for team ropers in and around Alabama.
The classifieds section was actually an idea from Phillip Kelce. He wanted to sell horses that he'd been training. He'd thought about setting up a website for that, but he really didn't have enough horses each year to justify the expense. Alternatively, if you look on those national horse classifieds sites, you never can find anything local. The goal of my site is to provide a local marketplace where ropers can buy and sell what they need.
I hope this site serves as a useful community service for all ropers in Alabama. If you think of something you'd like to see on this site, (or other questions, comments, etc.) please let me know. All feedback is greatly appreciated.
